Your donation dollars at work:

Our new broadcasting studio - completed at the turn of 2005 - along with a range of crucial equipment upgrades in recent years - a new broadcasting console, multiple source devices, and various computer-aided implements, to name a few - have all been funded primarily by listener contributions.

As we endeavor to increase the reach of our FM signal, while also expanding options for alternate listening sources - like the development of higher quality online streaming options and other alternatives to FM - we are dependent on listener donations to fuel these efforts.

In addition to our Signal Development Project, we also have an increasing need for developing our off-air production facilities, which enable us to facilitate valuable community services more effectively while expanding our active potential to produce a broader range of locally-focused programming in a professional manner. Improved production facilities are a core element in ensuring our continued growth and sustainability as a community broadcasting outlet, because these tools enhance our ability to serve as an eduational resource for volunteer participants and the public at large. The advent of our new air studio has made the need of establishing a fully-functional production studio much more significant as a necessary goal.

Community Outreach is another crucial area of operational development that we are acting on. Beginning in the winter of 2007, WGDR will offer advanced training sessions and more customized internships to all of the high schools in our service area. WGDR will also be increasingly active in collaborative projects focused on youth learning opportunities and applied media studies, as we develop alliances and partnerships with more socially responsible organizations and educational institutions.

Another important area of community servicing that we seek to improve concerns our remote broadcasting capabilities, which are currently very limited and in need of development. These on-location functions require a remote transmitter and other costly equipment that we are in the process of raising funds to support. Once this equipment is obtained, we will be capable of broadcasting all kinds of off-site events, such as public hearings, local sports, election results, municipal events and many other notable happenings that merit on-site coverage.

These three major capital campaigns - Signal Development, Production Studio Development, and Remote Broadcasting - are all integral parts of the greater whole that WGDR is becoming. In order to ensure that our evolution continues sustainably, the tens of thousands of dollars needed to follow through on these ambitious quests can only be dependably achieved through steadily increased support from the WGDR listening community, which can then be effectively supplemented by funds from project grants, foundations and Goddard College, among others. Your support is essential to WGDR's survival and growth, so...

MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO SUPPORT
